Navigation functions, screen format
Dynamic navigation systems from Blaupunkt
automatically take traffic congestion into
consideration in route calculation.
So you would like to avoid motorways, ferries
or toll routes? No problem – simply select the
corresponding route option.
The on-board computer gives you such
information as your driving time, the route or
your average speed.
Mix mode allows you to display the directional
arrows and the map at the same time. You can
also simply choose between the two modes.
Practical information such as petrol stations,
hotels and restaurants are indicated by symbols
on the map.
The Operating Assistant makes your work
easier by using colour coding to mark the input
options.
Operating Assistant
Of course, a navigation system is packed full
of highly complicated technology, but thanks
to the operating assistant, every Blaupunkt
stand-alone navigation system is still easy to
use. Developed during the course of many
practical tests, the operating assistant makes
it easier for you to enter address information.
The QuickInfo explains the different options
in easy-to-understand language. And entering
your destination is also incredibly easy – the
intelligent speller offers you only the letters
that could form a logical combination. And if
you should happen to make a typing error,
simply press the backspace key to delete the
last letter and correct your entry.
Navigation, Off-board
A new kind of navigation system; the route is
no longer calculated by the navigation unit
in the vehicle, but rather by a stationary com-
puter operated by a service provider. You no
longer need a navigation CD. The destination
address is entered into the in-vehicle unit
as usual. After that, this address and your
current vehicle position are transmitted to
the service provider via GSM or GPRS. This is
where the route is then calculated, taking all
current traffic information into account. The
data that describes the route to be driven are
then transmitted back to the vehicle. The
off-board navigation unit guides the driver
to the selected destination just like a conven-
tional radio navigation system would. In other
words, every turn along the way is indicated
by a spoken recommendation and an arrow
symbol.
Spoken street names
The special thing about Blaupunkt off-board
navigation is that you also hear the name of
the street or road you are supposed to turn
onto. And that is something that conventional
navigation systems just can't do. In conven-
tional systems, the spoken recommendations
are recorded by a speaker in advance and all
the spoken recordings for the many thousands
of streets simply exceed the storage capacity
of any navigation CD or DVD. In Blaupunkt
off-board navigation, the street names are
transmitted as text and read out aloud by a
natural-sounding computer voice. Listen to
CD music even while you are using route
guidance. Because Blaupunkt off-board navi-
gation does not require a navigation CD,
the CD drive is always available to play back
a music CD.
Navigation functions, radio-based
TMC and TIM® provide the TravelPilot DX-R70
with proactive, dynamic navigation. TMC
makes it possible to detect traffic congestion
on the route up ahead and uses this infor-
mation in route calculation. TIM® stores all
traffic messages, even when the unit is not
switched on.
Spoken and visual driving recommendations
show you the way. The distance bar in the
display tells you how far it is to your next
driving manoeuvre.
Entering your destination is easier and more
convenient than ever before. The intelligent
speller offers you only those combinations
of letters that are logically possible.
The TravelPilot DX-R70's travel-guide
function allows you to enter such destinati-
ons as hotels, restaurants, tourist attracti-
ons, etc. directly and to read information
on these destinations in the display.
Like its big brother, the TravelPilot DX-R70,
the TravelPilot DX-R52 also offers highly
precise, proactive, dynamic route guidance.
Easy-to-understand arrow symbols and
a friendly voice let you know which exit to
take in the roundabout plenty of time in
advance.
