Chapter 5 Connecting LAN/Modem
This chapter describes how to connect the LAN or modem to the remote service board.
The remote service board can be accessed and from the administrator's terminal to control
the server, or error notices (SNMP trap, E-mail, or pager) can be sent from the remote
service board by connecting the LAN or modem to the remote service board.
Caution
Point
The LAN cable, external modem and RS-232C cable for the modem are
options, and are not provided with this product.

5.1 Connecting the LAN cable

This item describes the procedure for connecting the LAN cable to the remote service board.
Point
The following IP address is set to the remote service board as default. Before
you connect the remote service board to the network, change the IP address as
required.
For details on how to change the password, refer to the "ServerView User's
Guide" in the ServerView CD-ROM.

■Connecting procedure
1.
Connect the LAN cable to the remote service board.
Connect the connector of the LAN cable you have prepared to the 10/100BASE-TX
connector of the remote service board.
2.
Connect the other connector to a hub or router.
The following user account is set to the remote service
board as the default. Before you start operations, be sure to
change this password. For details on how to change the
password, refer to the "ServerView User's Guide" in the
ServerView CD-ROM.
