Cause
• An unplayable disc is inserted in the unit.
• The disc is upside down.
• Playback is not authorised in the region of
the DVD-Video that you inserted in the
unit.
• The current selected parental level in
"HOME" menu prohibits playback.
• The recording function encountered a
copy prohibited programme.
• Original source is in NTSC system.
• You are trying to record onto a disc that is
unrecordable, or the disc status does not
satisfy recording requirements.
• The disc is dirty.
• The disc is damaged.
• You are trying to record onto the protected
disc which is set in "Disc Editing" menu.
• You are trying to record onto the disc for
which the number of recording titles
comes up to the maximum (49).
• You are trying to record onto the
DVD+RW or DVD-RW disc for which the
number of recording chapters comes up
to the maximum (254).
• When recordings are performed
repeatedly onto an unstable disc, this
area may become full.
• Every time you insert a disc for recording,
part of the disc's working area will be
used. If you repeat this frequently, it will
be used up quicker and you may not be
able to record maximum number of titles
for the disc.
• You are trying to record onto a disc that is
already finalised.
• You are trying to record onto the
unfinalised +VR mode discs recorded on
other unit.
• You are trying to record onto the HDD
when total title number is already at its
limit.
• The internal HDD is dirty or damaged.
• There is not enough space on the internal
HDD.
Solution
• Insert a standard disc.
• Insert the disc with the labelled side facing
up.
• Insert a DVD-Video with region codes 2 or
ALL.
• Check the "Parental Lock" setting.

• You cannot record copy prohibited
programmes.
• Insert a recordable disc, and ensure the
disc status satisfies the recording
requirements. (See page 25.)
• Clean the disc with a cleaning cloth.
• Replace the disc.
• Switch to HDD mode.
• Disc may need formatting.
• Release the disc protect setting in "Disc
Editing" menu. (See page 44.)
• Delete unnecessary titles.
(See pages 65 - 66.)
• Delete unnecessary chapter marks.
(See pages 68 - 69.)
• Insert a new disc.
• Release the finalising for the disc.
(See pages 44 - 45.)
• Set "Make Rec. Compatible" to "ON" to
rewrite the menu, after that you will record
to disc. (See page 26.)
• Delete unnecessary titles.

• Contact the customer service centre.
• Delete unnecessary titles.
