4. Examine address EB20.
This should cause the MDS controller to
place the B-status byte on the Data In bus.
The sector
position field (low order four bits) should be constantly
changing with values between 0 and 9.
5. Check that the head carriage guide on the disk drive is in the
spiral grove on the stepper motor cam.
sometimes the guide is
knocked out of the grove during shipment.
6. with no diskette inserted in the drive, starting the bootstrap
program at the bootstrap starting address (E900 in standard
version) should cause the following actions to occur.
The
motors for all drives will turn on.
After one second the head
will be selected on drive number I (loud click
so~nd).
The
disk head on drive number I will now step out to track zero (0
to 35 rapid muted clicks).
After this the computer will
endlessly loop within the PROM program.
The disk system is now integrated, checked-out, and ready for
use •

Nanual for personalizing the disk software.
Consult the OEM
manual for proper operation
procedur~s
before using the disk
drive or diskettes.
Also, consult the OEM manual for
instructions on how to write protect a diskette.
ANY DISKETTE
'rHAT CONTAINS INFORMATION THAT YOU WOULD NOT LIKE TO SEE
ACCIDENTALLY DESTROYED SHOULD BE WRITE PROTECTED.
A diskette can
be write protected by covering the wrtie protect notch with a
piete of masking tape folded over the edge of the diskette.
