Before carring out the following opera-
tions, let the engine and the exhaust si-
lencer cool down until they reach room
temperature, in order to avoid burns.

WARNING
Be careful not to let the bike fall over
when you lift the bike up to perform this
check.
The stand (1) must rotate about its pivot
smoothly and easily.
Perform the following checks:
N
The springs (2) must be free from dam-
age, wear, or rust, and must fully and firm-
ly retract the side stand when the weight

The stand (1) must rotate freely about its
pivot. If necessary, lubricate the pivot, see
p. 98 (LUBRICANT CHART).

The vehicle is equipped with two switches:
– stoplight switch on the rear brake lever (3);
– stoplight switch on the front brake lever
(4).
To reach the switches:

Remove the front handlebar cover, see
p. 74 (REMOVING THE FRONT HAN-
DLEBAR COVER).
Perfom the following checks:

Make sure that there is no dirt or mud on
the switch. The switch pin must move
freely and without interference, returning
automatically to its unapplied position.

rear-view mirror only, but is valid for both.

Place the vehicle on the center stand,
see p. 53 (PLACING THE VEHICLE ON
THE STAND).

Pull back the rubber boot (5) with your
fingers.

CAUTION
Hold the rear-view mirror (6), to prevent
it from accidentally falling down.

Using two appropriate wrenches, hold
the special bolt (7) from rotating and
loosen and completely unscrew the nut
(8).

Remove the rear-view mirror (6).
