Parameterization of RF642A for RF630R
Operation within the EU, EFTA, or Turkey
NOTICE
Limitation of the radiated power according to EN 302 208 V1.2.1
RF600 systems that are put into operation within the EU, EFTA or Turkey (ETSI) can be operated with an RF642A antenna
with a maximum radiated power of <500 mW ERP (or 27 dBm ERP, 800 mW EIRP, 29.15 dBm EIRP).
To ensure the radiated power does not reach 500 mW ERP for operation within the EU, EFTA, and Turkey (or 27 dBm ERP,
800 mW EIRP, 29.15 dBm EIRP), only the maximum radiated power may be set at the reader for each cable with
characteristic cable loss. See also the "distance_limiting" parameter in the RF620R/RF630R parameterization manual for the
radiated power setting of the RESET command.
NOTICE
Radiated power increase by 3 dB when writing data to transponders
If data are written from the RF630R reader to a transponder the reader autonomously increases the radiated power by up
to 3 dB. To ensure that the maximum radiated power <500 mW ERP (or 27 dBm ERP, 800 mW EIRP, 29.15 dBm EIRP) is
not exceeded, the radiated power to be set must by reduced by 3 dB if necessary.
The following contains the power settings made via parameter "distance_limiting" for read-only data access (no WRITE/INIT
command may be issued to a transponder via the SIMATIC) and for the case that write or read data accesses should take
place within one sequence (at least one WRITE/INIT command is issued to a transponder via the SIMATIC):
Cable designation
Order No.
Antenna cable
6GT2815-0BH30
Antenna cable
6GT2815-1BN10
Antenna cable
6GT2815-0BN10
Antenna cable
6GT2815-0BN20
A write access is, for example, writing the EPC ID, writing the USER memory, issuing a LOCK command, issuing a KILL
1)
command or writing passwords to transponders.
Operation in China
The national approval for RF600 systems in China requires a cap of 2000 mW ERP (or 33 dBm ERP, 3250 mW EIRP,
35 dBm EIRP). The possible combination of antenna gain, cable loss, and max. 500 mW radiated power of the RF630R
reader means it is not possible to exceed 2000 mW ERP (or 33 dBm ERP, 3250 mW EIRP, 35 dBm EIRP).
Operation in the USA, Canada
NOTICE
Limitation of the radiated power to 4000 mW EIRP (36 dBm EIRP) with an antenna gain of 7 dBi
The antenna must be commissioned by qualified personnel. Antennas with a gain >6 dBi may be commissioned, as long as
the effective radiated power of 4000 mW EIRP (36 dBm EIRP) is not exceeded.
To comply with FCC and IC-FCB requirements, the system must satisfy the following relation:
● Conducted power P dBm of the RF600 reader (<30 dBm)
● Antenna gain G
dBi in the FCC frequency band (≤ 7 dBi)
i
● Cable loss a
dB (≥ 1 dB)
k
P(dBm) ≤ 30 dBm - (G
- 6 dBi) + a
