4. ASSEMBLY
For shipping reasons, the machine is supplied
without engine oil or fuel. Before starting the
P
engine, fill with oil and fuel following the
instructions given in the engine manual.

WARNING: Unpacking and completing
the assembly should be done on a flat
and stable surface, with enough space
for handling the machine and its

packaging, always mak ing use of
suitable equipment.

Unpacking
When unpacking the machine, take care to
recover all individual parts and fittings, and do
not damage the cutting deck when taking the

machine off the pallet. The standard packaging
contains:
- The machine
- Drive handle

- Drive speed selection lever
- Chute snow
- Rotation chute crank
- Headlight (ARTIK 56 EL)
- Height jet adjustable chute lever (ARTIK 62-70
ELD - 72 ELDT)
- the envelope containing the instruction
manual, documents and threaded fasteners;
it also contains 2 ignition keys (56 EL).

The packaging should be disposed of in
accordance with local regulations in force.
Charging battery (56 EL)
Battery charger (NOT SUPPLIED)
WARNING: Check that the batter y
charger provides a constant voltage and
is compatible with the battery. Do not
use fast battery chargers.
WARNING: Pay careful attention to the
warning symbols indicated on the
battery charger.
The battery charger must only be used with 12
V batteries and connected to an efficient and
safe power socket matching the voltage and
frequency values indicated on the battery
charger data plate.
The battery charger is supplied with crocodile
clips for connecting to the battery.
When connecting the clips observe the correct
polarity (Fig.33):
(1) Red cable = Positive terminal (+) terminal to
the screw on the starter relay.
(2) Black cable = Negative terminal (-) terminal
to the engine housing screw.
WARNING: If the battery is not removed
f ro m t h e m a c h i n e o n w h i c h i t i s
mounted, make sure that the key is in
the OFF position (Fig. 34).
First connect the battery charger to the
power socket and then connect the crocodile
clips to the battery terminals.
To disconnect the batter y charger, first
disconnect the black clip (negative terminal) (-)
to prevent accidental short-circuits.
Do not leave the battery charger disconnected
from the mains while connected to the battery;
this may discharge the battery.
WARNING: Reversing polarity may
damage the battery charger or the
b at t e r y. Th e u s e o f n o n - o r i g i n a l
accessories and connection cables may
cause polarity reversal, even if the
colours of the cables are the same.
