12. TRANSMISSION
3 and 4-Speed (Transmisson and
Rear
Axle)
Follow recommendations given under "Rear Axle".
3 and 4-Speed Control Linkage
Every 1.0.0.0 miles-Lubri-
cate the fittinlg lo-
cated at the forward
end of the transmis-
sion control rod with
chassis lube. The fit-
ting is illustrated at
the right.
Powerglide
(Transmission only)
Every 1.0.0.0 miles-Check"" fluid level on dipstick
located in the right front of the engine com-
partment, with engine idling, selector lever in
NEUTRAL position, parkingtbrake set and trans-
mission at operating temperature. Add Automatic
Transmission Fluid Type "A" bearing the mark
AQ-ATF, followed by a number and the suffix
letter "A," to full mark on dipstick. Check with

engine idling. DO NOT OVERFILl. Correct oil level
must be established by dipstick measurement:
Add small amounts of oil, checking the level after
each addition, until the proper level is reached.
NOTE: From the "Add Oil" mark to the "Full"
mark on the dipstick indicates a difference of
only 1 pint of fluid.
Clean dust and dirt from transmission oil cooler
(reached through battery access door) periodically.
