CHASSIS LUBRICATION
Your Corvair deserves the best care you can give
it.
Regular maintenance will guarantee you more, de-
pendable, trouble free mile;s of enjoyable driving. The
following pages are devoted to maint.eriance and lubri-
cation items which should be performed at regular inter-
vals. Each item is numbered to correspond to the items
shown on the Lubrication Diagram on page 35. The
Lubrication and
'
M ainlenance Guide on pages 36 and
37 provides an easy way of checking on necessary
maintenance at any given mileage or seasonal interval.

CRANKCASE LUBRICAJION
When checking or adding
'
o il, avoid
spilling
or
dropping oil onto the engine shrouding. This may result
in objectionable fume.s entering the passenger ·.compart-
ment when the optional Direct Air Heater is installed.
Refill crankcase with oil as shown in table on page 24:
First 500 miles (if temperature has been over 60° F.)
First 4000 miles or 30 days (if temperature has been
below 32°F.)

First 4000 miles or 60 days (if temperature has been
between 32°F. and 60°F.)
Every 4000 miles or 60 days during favorable driving
conditions (over 10 miles per ·tr,ip).
During adverse driving conditions or short trip driving
(less than 10 miles per trip).
Change every 30 days or 4000 miles, which-
ever occurs first.
2.
OIL FILTER
Change the filter element after the first 4000 miles of
operation, and every 4000 miles or every 6 months,
whichever comes first, thereafter.
NOTE:
When changing the filter element, be
careful not
to
drip oil
on
the engine
fan
belt
.
