- Page 6 7. Slowly turn the Exhaust Valve ccunter-clockwise with your thumb and index finger to an exhaust rate of 2 to 3 mmHg per second as seen on the dial. If the deflation rate (exhaust rate) is too fast, it will not read you blood pressure correctly or may not read at all.
