Shooting Night Portraits (With a Tripod)

When you want to photograph people at night and obtain a natural-looking
night scene in the background, use the < 6 > (Night Portrait) mode. Note
that shooting in this mode requires the built-in fl ash or an external
Speedlite. Using a tripod is recommended.
Shooting Tips
Use a wide-angle lens and a tripod.
When using a zoom lens, use the wide-angle end to obtain a wide night
view. Because camera shake occurs in handheld shooting, using a tripod
is also recommended.
Check the image brightness.
It is recommended to play back the captured image on location to check
the image brightness. If the subject looks dark, move nearer and shoot
again.
Also shoot in other shooting modes.
Since camera shake is prone to occur with night shots, shooting also with
< A > and < F > modes is recommended.
If you use the self-timer together with a fl ash, the self-timer lamp will light up
o
briefl y after the picture is taken.
