is in residual braking function
mode, so BMW Motorrad re-
commends setting the brake
lever to a wider span.
When the residual brak-
ing function is active for

both brake circuits, the noise
of the pump is no longer aud-
ible when you operate the
brake levers.
Deactivatable ABS
Under certain circumstances,
it can be best to dispense
with ABS when you
right on loose surfaces.
Consequently, you have
the option of temporarily
deactivating this motorcycle's
ABS function.
Deactivating ABS does not
impair the effectiveness of the
brake booster or the integral
braking function.
Deactivating ABS func-
tion
Bring the motorcycle to a
standstill.
Switch off the ignition.
Press and hold down
ABS button 1.
Switch on the ignition.
Release ABS button 1.
The ABS function is deactiv-
ated.
ABS warning light ON.
Activating ABS function
Bring the motorcycle to a
standstill.
Switch the ignition off and
then on again.
The ABS function is
restored.
