Symptom
Picture is not recorded when
you press the release button.
Vertical lines appear around
lights or candle flames, etc.,
shot against a dark background.
Auto focus does not work
when shooting at night.
Camera will not play back.
Cannot erase a picture.
There is interference on the
picture or LCD monitor.

Cause
A card is not inserted in the
camera.
There are no more remaining
shots.
This occurs when there is a
strong contrast between the
background and the subject.
Auto focus may not work
when taking pictures at night,
or if the subject is dark.
Power/mode dial is not set to
PLAY.
The battery needs to be
charged.
There are no pictures saved
on the card.
The picture is protected or the
card itself is write-protected.
The camera is near equipment
with strong electromagnetic
radiation, such as a TV.
Corrective Action
Insert a card in the camera.

Insert a new card.
Change the picture quality or
erase unnecessary pictures.
Check the remaining shot
number and try again. (pages
54, 87)
The camera is not
malfunctioning.
Manually set the focus.
Set the power/mode dial to
PLAY.
Charge the battery pack.

Take a picture and save it on
the card.
Cancel the protect function.

If the card is write protected,
