Troubleshooting (Continued)
The data file name flashes.
• The file is damaged.
• The file format is not supported on your camcorder (p. 110).
Recording
Refer also to "Adjusting the image during recording" (p. 93) and "Memory Stick Duo" section
(p. 91).
The tape does not start when you press START/STOP.
• Slide the POWER switch to turn on the CAMERA-TAPE lamp (p. 26).
• The tape has reached the end. Rewind it, or insert a new cassette.
• Set the write-protect tab to REC or insert a new cassette (p. 108).
• The tape is stuck to the drum due to moisture condensation. Remove the cassette and leave
your camcorder for at least 1 hour, then re-insert the cassette (p. 115).
You cannot record on the "Memory Stick Duo."
• Release the lock on the write-protect tab of the "Memory Stick Duo" if there is one (p. 110).
• The "Memory Stick Duo" is full. Delete unnecessary pictures recorded on the "Memory Stick
Duo" (p. 76).
• Format the "Memory Stick Duo" on your camcorder or insert another "Memory Stick Duo"
(p. 56).
• You cannot record movies with this unit on the "Memory Stick Duo."
• When the POWER switch is set to CAMERA-TAPE, you cannot record still images on the
"Memory Stick Duo" with:
– [PICT.EFFECT]
– [D.EFFECT]
– While executing [FADER]
– [SMTH SLW REC]
The recording angle differs depending on the POWER switch setting position.
• The recording angle when the POWER switch is set to CAMERA-MEMORY is wider than
when it is set to CAMERA-TAPE.
You cannot record a smooth transition on a tape from the last recorded scene
to the next.
• Perform END SEARCH (p. 35).
• Do not remove the cassette (The picture will be recorded continuously without a break even
when you turn the power off).
• Do not record pictures in the HDV and DV formats on the same tape.
• Do not record pictures in SP mode and LP mode on the same tape.
• Avoid stopping then recording a movie in the LP mode.
• When [QUICK REC] is set to [ON], you cannot record a smooth transition (p. 66).
