COMMISSIONING THE UNIT

Machine safety [25785854]

Safety - Shut down tractor
It is of the utmost importance to shut down the tractor PTO
and engine, when doing an intervention on the baler.
This is by far the safest practice. If and despite of this
warning, you will proceed without shutting off the tractor
PTO. and/or the tractor engine, it is of vital interest to lock
out the automatic triggered devices on your baler.
There are locking systems on the baler, refer to Safety
section.
Failing to use these locking devices while intervening on a
running baler, may cause fatal injury when above systems
are inadvertently triggered (e.g. when the system is at the
point of being triggered).
ATTENTION: The following statements are identified to
draw the attention of the operators to their machine and
surroundings, read these statements before starting any
baler operations.
1.
Intended use and reasonable foreseeable misuse
Your baler is designed and made to work in a vari-
ety of crops and conditions and within some physi-
cal limits. The feed rate and performance may de-
pend on a number of limitative parameters, such as
weather and terrain conditions, crop variety and hu-
midity. Though the machine is designed to perform
in most crops and conditions, there may be a num-
ber of combinations of above parameters, for which
there is severe degradation of performance of the
machine or systems thereof. If you notice degra-
dation of performance, contact your dealer for as-
sistance. He may have useful information for im-
provements, or a kit may be available to enhance
the performance.
Do not use your machine for another purpose than
intended by the manufacturer and within its limits
(*).
* limits of the machine:
* side slope: %
* tractor properties: power, traction performance
* maximum throughput: variable, depending of
crop, variety, maturity, humidity
* maximum baling speed: variable, depending of
crop, variety, maturity, humidity, grain losses, tractor
engine power and power transmission
* mobility: variable, soil condition.

Some functions of your baler are controlled by soft-
ware and some of them are safety related. Do
not attempt to modify or download software from
spurious sources. Settings and logics may be de-
stroyed and affect seriously the function of the ma-
chine. This may result in unpredictable and unsafe
behaviour of the machine. Only your dealer is enti-
tled to intervene on the software of the machine. He
has the appropriate tools and data sets for it and
owns the officially released software versions and
updates for your machine.
Safety functions
Your baler is equipped with a number of sensors to
control safety functions.
Do not attempt to bypass any function. You will be
exposed to serious hazards, and moreover, the be-
haviour of the machine may become unpredictable
when messing up wires.
Bystanders
You shall take the necessary precautions (e.g. as-
sistance) to always be aware of the possible pres-
ence of bystanders, certainly when manoeuvring in
confined areas, such as the farm yard and sheds.
Keep people away from the baler during field work.
Ask bystanders to leave the field. There is the risk
to be overrun by the machine, in particular when
reversing.
Do not allow riders on the machine; do not allow
people standing on the machine when baling. A
rider risks to fall from the machine during unfore-
seen or abrupt movements of the combination trac-
tor - baler.
Other requirements: scope of this manual
Clear distinction between the different phases of
machine use (and the corresponding level of train-
ing needed) shall be part of the introduction:
This manual gives information for use of this baler,
as intended and under the conditions foreseen by
the manufacturer during normal operation and rou-
tine service and maintenance.
Normal operation means the use of the machine
for the purpose intended by the manufacturer by
an operator familiar with the machine characteris-
tics and complying with the information for operation
