To lift the cutting deck
1. Pull the lift lever for hydraulic lift rearward. The
cutting deck lifts to transport position.
2. If it is necessary, lock the cutting deck in transport
position with the mechanical lift lever. See
for mechanical lift of the cutting deck on page 5 .
To lower the cutting deck to operation
position
1. If the cutting deck is locked in the transport position
with the mechanical lift lever, first move the
mechanical lift lever to the mow position.
2. Move the lift lever for hydraulic lift forward to lower
the cutting deck to the mow position. The blades
start to rotate.
3. Keep the lift lever for hydraulic lift in the forward
position for one second before you release it. This
lowers the cutting deck fully.
Note: If the cutting deck is not fully lowered it will lift
from the surface and not cut the grass if you move
across the edge of a slope.
To start the engine
1. Make sure that the drive system is engaged, see
engage and disengage the drive system on page 14 .

2. Lift the cutting deck and apply the parking brake.
3. Move the throttle control to the middle position (B).

4. If the engine is cold, move the choke control fully
rearward.
5. Turn the ignition key to the start position.

6. When the engine starts, immediately release the
ignition key to neutral position.

CAUTION: Do not run the starter for
more than 5 seconds at a time. If the
engine does not start, wait 15 seconds
before you try again.
