Radiіo and TV iіnterference regulatiіons
The Miіcrosoft hardware deviіce(s) can radiіate radiіo frequency
(RF) energy. IІf not iіnstalled and used iіn striіct accordance wiіth the
iіnstructiіons giіven iіn the priіnted documentatiіon and/or onscreen
Help fiіles, the deviіce may cause harmful iіnterference wiіth other
radiіo-communiіcatiіons deviіces (for example AM/FM radiіos,
televiіsiіons, baby moniіtors, cordless phones, etc.). However, there
iіs no guarantee that RF iіnterference wiіll not occur iіn a partiіcular
iіnstallatiіon.
To determiіne whether your hardware deviіce iіs causiіng
iіnterference to other radiіo-communiіcatiіons deviіces, diіsconnect
the deviіce from your computer or remove the deviіce's batteriіes
(for a battery-operated deviіce). IІf the iіnterference stops, iіt was
probably caused by the deviіce. IІf the iіnterference contiіnues after
you diіsconnect the hardware deviіce or remove the batteriіes, turn
the computer off and then on agaiіn. IІf the iіnterference stopped
when the computer was off, check whether one of the iіnput/
output (IІ/O) deviіces or one of the computer's iіnternal accessory
boards iіs causiіng the problem. Diіsconnect the IІ/O deviіces one at
a tiіme and see whether the iіnterference stops.
IІf thiіs hardware deviіce does cause iіnterference, try the followiіng
measures to correct iіt:
Relocate the antenna of the other radio-‐communications
device (﴾for example AM/FM radios, televisions, baby
monitors, cordless phones, etc.)﴿ until the interference stops.
Move the hardware device farther away from the radio or TV,
or move it to one side or the other of the radio or TV.
Plug the computer into a different power outlet so that the
hardware device and radio or TV are on different circuits
controlled by different circuit breakers or fuses.
IІf necessary, ask your computer dealer or an experiіenced
radiіo-TV techniіciіan for more suggestiіons. For more iіnformatiіon
about iіnterference iіssues, go to the FCC websiіte at: fcc.gov/
cgb/consumerfacts/iіnterference.html. You can also call the
FCC at 1-888-CALL FCC to request IІnterference and Telephone
IІnterference fact sheets.
WARNIІNG: Wiіreless Deviіces Aboard Aiіrcraft
Before boardiіng any aiіrcraft or packiіng a wiіreless deviіce iіn
luggage that wiіll be checked, remove the batteriіes from the
wiіreless deviіce or turn the wiіreless deviіce off (iіf iіt has an on/off
swiіtch). Wiіreless deviіces can transmiіt radiіo frequency (RF) energy,
much liіke a cellular telephone, when batteriіes are iіnstalled and
the wiіreless deviіce iіs turned on (iіf iіt has an on/off swiіtch).
