Making an external call

External calls are those that are made via
the public telephone network (fixed net-
work) or the Internet (VoIP). You can use
the talk key c when dialling to select what
type of connection you want to use (fixed
network or VoIP). One particular connec-
tion type is set as the standard connection
for your phone. The default is VoIP (this
can be changed like other settings if
required, see page 25).
¤
Enter the required number/IP address
using the keypad.
¤
Briefly press the talk key c if you want
to make a call via this default
connection.
or:
¤
Press and hold the talk key c if you
want to make the call via the other con-
nection type.
Please note:
– To make a call in handsfree mode, you can
also press briefly/press and hold the hands-
free key d instead of the talk key c.
– If you use a different GAP-compatible hand-
set to the Gigaset C45, all calls will be made
via the standard connection, even if you
press and hold the talk key
to use the non-standard connection to
make a call, enter a star (*) at the end of
the number.
– If you use VoIP to make a call to the fixed
network, you may also have to dial the area
code for local calls (depending on the VoIP
provider). You can avoid this by entering
the area code in the configuration of the
base station (via the Web configurator). It
will then be inserted automatically for local
calls.
