Problems
The thermal relay (or the thermal
protector) on the LKEB braking
resistor unit trips while stopped or
operating at steady speed (no
deceleration).
The drive faults on overvoltage.
The thermal relay (or the thermal
protector) on the braking resistor unit
trips occasionally.
Fault output contacts MA-MB-MC
change states. Overvoltage (ov) may
occur on drive:
- CDBR heatsink overheat
- CDBR transistor overcurrent

Cause
There is not a CDBR braking unit
connected and the DC bus braking
transistor short circuited.
The DC bus braking transistor in the
CDBR braking unit is short circuited
as indicated by contacts EA-EB-EC.
CDBR braking unit DIP switch S3
for the power supply voltage is set to
the wrong position.
The braking resistor unit is too small.
Incorrect wiring or CDBR switch
positions.
The CDBR braking unit is damaged.
The braking resistor unit is too small.
The CDBR braking unit is damaged.
Incorrect CDBR switch position.
Incoming main power supply voltage
increases momentarily.
The application is experiencing
excessive starting and stopping, or
the load inertia is too large for the
CDBR unit.
The CDBR braking unit and LKEB
braking resistor unit are not
appropriately matched.
Resistor is wired incorrectly.
Ambient temperature exceeded
50°C (122°F). CDBR heatsink is too
hot.
The CDBR braking unit is damaged.
Possible Solution
Replace the drive.
Replace the CDBR braking unit.
Set DIP switch S3 to the correct
position.
Re-evaluate the braking conditions
required for the application.
Inspect the wiring, switch settings,
and correct any mistakes.
Replace the CDBR braking unit.
Re-evaluate the braking conditions
required for the application.
Replace the CDBR braking unit.
Correct the switch settings.
Investigate the cause of high input
voltage.
Re-evaluate the braking
requirements.
Correctly match the CDBR braking
unit and LKEB braking resistor unit.
Check for proper resistance.
Reduce the ambient temperature.
Replace the CDBR braking unit.
