While Driving
If the Manual position is selected while
driving, the gear that the vehicle is in will
be displayed. If the current vehicle
speed is too high when requesting a
lower gear, the downshift will not occur
and a chime will indicate that the
requested gear was denied.
If the current vehicle speed is too low
when requesting a higher gear, the
upshift will not occur and a chime will
indicate that the requested gear was
denied. As the vehicle slows to a stop,
the transmission will automatically shift
down to first gear.
Starting From a Stop
The vehicle will automatically be in first
gear as it comes to a stop or when ini-
tially started up in the Manual mode. The
vehicle may be started in second gear
from a stop. A second gear start may be
used for starting on slippery roads.
Commanding the vehicle to start up in
third gear will not occur and a chime will
indicate that the request was denied. As
vehicle speed increases, it will not auto-
matically upshift. It will stay in either first
or second gear (if second gear was
selected) until the paddle is pushed to
upshift. As the engine speed increases
during full-throttle acceleration, the
"upshift" light/symbol will illuminate on
the DIC/Trip Computer and HUD, indi-
cating that the paddle should be pushed
to upshift. If the upshift is not command-
ed by pushing the paddle, the vehicle
speed will be limited in order to protect
the engine.
