NVR SE Quick Install Guide

Introduction
Thank you for purchasing a Honeywell MAXPRO® NVR SE. Before installing your NVR, please read this guide carefully.
1 Unpack Everything
Check that the items received match those listed on the order form and packing slip. The packing box should include:
Front bezel
Power cord
Keyboard
Mouse
DVI-I to VGA adapter
Note
Other peripheral hardware (owner supplied) will also be needed for your installation (such as cameras, network
PoE switch for the camera network, network switch for a client workstation network, a monitor, and an optional keyboard
controller).
2 Installing Unit
Mounting the MAXPRO NVR Unit
The MAXPRO NVR SE unit can be mounted either on a flat surface or in a rack (optional Rail hardware kit not supplied).
To remove the bezel from the front of the unit, turn the bezel key lock clockwise to loosen, then pull away from the unit. To
secure the front bezel, turn the bezel key lock counterclockwise.

Before powering up the MAXPRO NVR SE, connect the
supplied keyboard and mouse to the USB connectors at
the rear of the unit.

Network Connections
Connect a network PoE switch to the camera network port at the rear of the MAXPRO NVR unit. Connect your cameras to
the network PoE switch with CAT5 Ethernet cables. Optionally, connect the client workstation network port to your client
workstation network via a network switch. This allows remote access to your NVR. The default client workstation network IP
address must be changed to an available static IP address on your client workstation network.
Monitor(s)
The MAXPRO NVR SE comes with a dual graphics card, so two monitors can be connected. The NVR has three connections
for monitors: .
HDMI Output
to TV/Digital monitor
DVI-I Output
to TV/Digital monitor
DVI to SVGA Adapter
Connect adapter to DVI output, then connect an
analog VGA monitor.
The recommended resolution for your monitor is 1280 x 1024 pixels (minimum 1024 x 768) and display colors of at least 32
®
bit. Refer to the MAXPRO
NVR Commissioning and Installation Guide for more information on configuring monitor display
properties.
4 Powering Up the Unit
Note
Honeywell recommends using an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) for the MAXPRO NVR SE unit, the camera
network switch, and the cameras to ensure that the MAXPRO NVR SE unit can continue to record video during a
power outage. If you need to monitor video during a power outage, consider a UPS for the monitor as well.
MAXPRO NVR SE Power Up Sequence
1.
Turn on camera(s) and other hardware connected to the MAXPRO NVR SE unit.
Note
Honeywell recommends that cameras be powered on before the MAXPRO NVR SE unit starts up. It can take up to
two minutes for IP cameras to boot up. Online cameras can be easily discovered by the unit after starting up. It is
also recommended to turn on other associated network components such as a network switch or router before the
MAXPRO NVR SE starts up.

Press the power button on the front of the MAXPRO NVR SE unit (labeled 1 in the image below).

After powering up, you are prompted to log on. The Default user is user name: Administrator, password: Password1.
The user name and password are case sensitive.
