When Using the Grip Pad Tool
Press the T-shirt lightly with the grip pad tool and
move it vertically and horizontally from the
edges as shown in the following illustration.
Repeat this step 2 to 3 times to remove any slack
or creases and make the printing surface flat.
Note:
If you use the grip pad tool on media coated in
pre-treatment liquid, some pre-treatment liquid
may stick to the bottom of the grip pad tool. The
next time you use the grip pad tool, make sure you
wipe off any pre-treatment liquid stuck to the
bottom of the grip pad tool with a damp cloth.
When Not Using the Grip Pad Tool
Use your hand to smooth out any creases and
slack to make the printing surface flat.

Important:
The printer detects the highest part of the print
surface and adjusts the height. If there are any
creases or slack remaining as shown in the
illustration below, the distance between the
print head and the print surface may increase
and print quality may decline. Flatten the
T-shirt so that there are no creases or sagging.
G
Tuck in the T-shirt so that it does not drape over
the movable base.

Adjusting the Platen Gap

The platen gap is the distance between the print head
and the T-shirt (media).
Failure to use platen gap adjustment to adjust to the
correct distance may cause print quality to decline or
stain the inside of the printer with ink.
The larger the value on the scale indicated by the platen
gap adjustment lever, the lower the platen is and the
wider the distance from the print head. The following
workflow explains how to perform adjustments.
