Clean the cooling system with a brush once a week or
more often in demanding conditions. A dirty or blocked
cooling system causes the product to overheat which
results in damage to the piston and cylinder.
Centrifugal cleaning system
Centrifugal cleaning means that the air to the carburettor
passes through the starter. Dirt and dust is centrifuged
out by the cooling fan.
In order to maintain operation of the centrifugal cleaning
system it must be regularly maintained. Clean the
following components:
The air intake on the starter.
The fins on the flywheel.
The space around the flywheel.
The inlet pipe.
The carburettor compartment.

Winter use

Running problems can occur when using the product in
cold and snowy conditions. These problems are caused

by too low engine temperature or icing on the air filter
and carburettor.
For temperatures below -5°C and/or in snowy conditions
a special cover is available. This cover is mounted on
5
the starter housing.
Note: The cover for winter use is not delivered together
with the chainsaw in all markets. Contact your servicing
dealer for more information. Part number: 575 52 75-01.
The cover reduce the flow of cooling air and prevents
large amounts of snow from being sucked into the
carburettor space.
CAUTION: If the temperature rises above
-5°C or 0°C respectively, the starter housing
cover must be removed. Otherwise there is
a risk of overheating, resulting in serious
damage to the engine.

Heated handles

572XPG
On models with the designation XPG both the front
handle and rear handles are equipped with electrical
heating coils. These are supplied with electricity from a
generator built into the chainsaw.
When the switch is pushed upwards, the heat is
switched on. When the switch is pushed downwards, the
heat is switched off.

Electrical carburettor heating

572XPG
On models with the designation XPG there is an
electrically heated carburettor. Electrically powered
heating prevents ice formation in the carburettor. A
thermostat regulates the heating so that the carburettor
always has the right working temperature.
