Toyota strongly recommends that all infants and children be placed in the rear seats of the vehicle and properly restrained. The rear seats are safer for infants and children than the front passenger seat.

    1-2. Child safety Airbag manual on-off system This system deactivates the front passenger airbag. Only deactivate the airbags when using a child restraint system on the front passenger seat. “PASSENGER AIR BAG” indi- cator The ON indicator light turns on when the airbag system is on (only when the power switch is in ON mode).

    1-3. Hybrid system Hybrid system features Your vehicle is a hybrid vehicle. It has characteristics different from conventional vehicles. Be sure you are closely familiar with the characteristics of your vehicle, and operate it with care. The hybrid system combines the use of a gasoline engine and an electric motor (traction motor) according to driving condi- tions, improving fuel efficiency and reducing exhaust emis- sions.

At slow speeds or when traveling down a gentle slope, the engine is stopped* and the electric motor (traction motor) is used.
