POWER ON/OFF

Press the tabs on the lens cap as
indicated by the arrows and
remove the lens cap.

Slide the power switch to q, K
or n.
• The camera and the monitor turn on.
• The mode in which the camera turns on
varies depending on the position of the
power switch. When the power is turned
on in the shooting mode, the lens
extends.
Shooting modes
K : For taking still pictures. Use the
mode dial to select a shooting
mode.
n : For recording movies.
Playback mode
q : For displaying the pictures you have
taken.

To turn the camera off, slide the power switch to OFF.
• In n or q mode, there is no need to set the mode dial. The
camera will record movies or play back pictures regardless of the

position of the mode dial.
• To save battery power, the camera automatically enters the sleep
mode and stops the operation after about 3 minutes of non-
operation. The camera activates again as soon as you operate the
shutter button or zoom lever.
