Installing the Processor and Heatsink

Caution! Avoid placing direct pressure to the top of the processor package. Always
remove the power cord fi rst before adding, removing or changing any hardware
components.
Caution: The Quad MB (4 CPU socket) was recommended to install all the 4 CPU to
make sure every function can work properly. Some MB function may not work under
the 1/2/3 CPU confi guration. For example: PCIE slot, on board LAN port and others.
Notes:
In order to install the E5-4600 (V2) Series CPU, you must make sure that BIOS
3.0 version is installed to your system.
Always connect the power cord last and always remove it before adding,
removing or changing any hardware components. Make sure that you install the
processor into the CPU socket before you install the CPU heatsink.
If you buy a CPU separately, make sure that you use an Intel-certifi ed multi-
directional heatsink only.
Make sure to install the serverboard into the chassis before you install the CPU
heatsinks.
When receiving a serverboard without a processor pre-installed, make sure that
the plastic CPU socket cap is in place and none of the socket pins are bent;
otherwise, contact your retailer immediately.

Installing the LGA2011 Processor

1. There are two load levers on the LGA2011 socket. To open the socket cover,
fi rst press and release the load lever labeled 'Open 1st'.
