Using external equipment

Setting the input source

To receive audio or video from an external source, set the
input source using

Connecting audio/video equipment

The way you connect your television depends on the
equipment you want to connect, the ports available on the
equipment (and the TV), and the quality of the signal you
want to receive.
Input and output connections are available on the rear and
on the side of the TV. Refer to "Television rear and side
view" on page 7 for more information.
NOTE:
The following diagrams show common connection
scenarios. For best results, use the highest quality
connection possible.
The cables marked with * are commercially
available items.

Connecting a VCR or DVD (display)

Use EXT1 or EXT2 to connect a VCR, DVD player, and
other audiovisual equipment that are used for display.
NOTE:
For optimal display, set the input setting to the
type of input being received. See "Input Select" on
page 18.
If you are connecting recording equipment, you
must use EXT1.

Connecting a VCR (recording)

Use the EXT1 to connect a VCR or other audiovisual
equipment that are used for recording purposes.
NOTE:
For optimal display, set the input setting to the
type of input being received. See "Input Select" on
page 18.

Connecting a game console or
camcorder
Connect a game console, camcorder, or similar device to
any of the appropriate connections on the TV. However, we
suggest using EXT3 on the side panel for convenience.

NOTE:
The S-Video (Y/C) and composite (CVBS)

Connecting a DVD player

Use EXT3 (side panel), EXT4, EXT6, or EXT7 to connect a
DVD player or similar equipment.
