Connectivity
The following topics address your phone's connectivity options, including USB file transfer and
tethering, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and more.
Transfer Files Between Your Phone and a
Computer
You can use the supplied USB/charging cable to connect your phone directly to your computer and
transfer music, pictures, and other content files.
For example, if you have a music album stored on your computer that you want to listen to on your
phone with any of the music apps, just attach your phone to the computer and copy the files to the
music folder.
For details, see Copy Files To or From Your Phone.
USB Type-C
Check out some frequently asked questions about the USB Type-C Accessory/charging port on the
HTC Bolt.
Am I required to use the provided USB Type-C cable or can I use a third-party cable?
HTC recommends that you use the USB cable that was provided with your phone for optimal
performance and compatibility. While third-party cables should work, there may be variances in
power output and this may cause performance degradation or other power-related issues. If you
want to purchase another USB cable for your phone, please visit htc.com/accessories. If you decide
to buy a USB cable elsewhere, look for the USB-IF certified logo. Please visit
usb.org/kcompliance/view to see if your USB cable received a USB-IF certification.
How does the USB Type-C connector differ from the micro USB connector on my old
phone?
The main difference is that USB Type-C is reversible and you can insert the connector to the
USB/charger port of the phone in any horizontal orientation and it will still work.
Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi provides wireless Internet access over distances of up to 300 feet. To use your phone's Wi-Fi,
you need access to a wireless access point or "hotspot."
Note: The availability and range of the Wi-Fi signal depends on a number of factors, including
infrastructure and other objects through which the signal passes.
