    Floor Mat Installation Use only floor mats designed specifically for vehicles of the same model and model year as your vehicle. Fix them securely in place onto the carpet. Insert the retaining hooks (clips) into the floor mat eyelets. Turn the upper knob of each retaining hook (clip) to secure the floor mats in place.

    Engine (Ignition) Switch Performing the following operations when carrying the electronic key on your person starts the engine or changes engine switch modes. ■ Starting the engine Check that the parking brake is set. Check that the shift lever is in P. Firmly depress the brake pedal.

    If the shift lever cannot be shifted to N Keep depressing the brake pedal with both feet to reduce vehicle speed as much as possible. To stop the engine, press and hold the engine switch for 2 consecutive seconds or more, or press it briefly 3 times or more in succession.

    Automatic Transmission (vehicles  with paddle shift switches) ■ Shifting the shift lever While the engine switch is in IGNITION ON mode, move the shift lever with the brake pedal depressed. When shifting the shift lever between P and D, make sure that the vehicle is com- pletely stopped.
  • Page 20 ■ Selecting shift ranges in the D position When the “-” paddle shift switch is operated, the shift range will be downshifted to a range that enables engine braking force that is suitable to driving conditions. When the “+” paddle shift switch is operated, the shift range will be one gear higher than the gear in use during normal D position driving.

    Driving Mode Select Switch The driving modes can be selected to suit driving conditions. Vehicles without Adaptive Variable Suspension System Normal mode Provides an optimal balance of fuel economy, quietness, and dynamic performance. Suitable for city driving. Press the switch to change the driving mode to normal mode when Eco drive mode or sport mode is selected.
  • Page 23 Vehicles with Adaptive Variable Suspension System Normal mode/Customized mode Normal mode and customized mode are selected by pressing the driving mode select switch. Each time the switch is pressed, the driving mode changes between normal mode and customized mode. When customized mode is selected, the “CUSTOMIZE” indicator will be illuminated.

    Eco drive mode Helps the driver accelerate in an eco-friendly manner and improve fuel economy through moderate throttle characteristics and by controlling the operation of the air conditioning system (heating/cooling).     Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with  Full-speed Range (if equipped) In vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode, the vehicle automatically accelerates, decelerates and stops to match the speed changes of the preceding vehicle even if the accelerator pedal is not depressed. In constant speed control mode, the vehicle runs at a fixed speed.
