5.7 Preparing PC stations
Disabling encrypted communication in a plant
Make sure that the following requirements are met:
● For redundant servers, the redundancy synchronization is completed before each step.
● Process mode is ended on the relevant PC station.
Perform each step for all PC stations in the entire plant before performing a further step.
1. All PC stations in the plant:
Select the "Migration mode" check box in the properties of the PC station in Simatic Shell".

Migration mode is enabled
Before you disable encrypted communication, you need to ensure the following for all
required PC stations:
Encrypted communication is enabled and migration mode is allowed.
2. All PC stations in the plant:
Disable the "Encrypted communication" option in the properties of the PC station in Simatic
Shell.

How to Change the Transmission Rate and Operating Mode in the PC Network

Introduction
For communication in a network, ensure the following parameters are set consistently for all
network nodes:
● Transmission rate
● Operating mode
Note
The factory settings for Siemens devices are set so that parameters for the transmission
rate and operating mode are identified automatically (autonegotiation).
This setting only needs to be changed if nodes which do not have access to the
"Autonegotiation" setting must be communicated with in the network.
