Contents of carton

The GMC SDSMHD1500 SDS Plus Hammer Drill is
supplied with the following accessories as standard:
• 1 x Point &1 x Flat Chisel (18 x 350mm)
• 3 x Drill Bits (6/18/20 x 280mm)
• Dust Protector Cap
• Pot of Grease

• Gearbox Pin Wrench

Unpacking

Carefully unpack and inspect your tool. Familiarise yourself
with all its features and functions.
Ensure that all parts of the tool are present and in good
condition. If any parts are missing or damaged, have such
parts replaced before attempting to use this tool.

Before Use

WARNING: Always disconnect the machine from the mains
power supply before making adjustments or changing
accessories.
Gearbox Care
IMPORTANT: Before first use and after every 6 hours
(approx.) of use, fill the gearbox cavity with gearbox
grease. A pot of grease is supplied for initial use. See
'Gearbox Maintenance' for application guidance
• Always check that there is sufficient grease in the
gearbox cavity before using the drill
Power indicator light
• The green Power Indicator Light (8) is illuminated when
power is available to the tool
Side handle
• The Side Handle (11) should always be used when
operating this tool
• The side handle can be adjusted to best suit the work to
be performed
• To adjust the side handle:
- Rotate the grip anti-clockwise. This will loosen the
handle assembly
- Move the side handle to the required position
- Secure in position by rotating the grip clockwise
Depth stop
• Loosen the Depth Stop Collar (3) locking screw to allow
movement backwards and forwards of the depth stop
• Tighten the screw to lock the depth stop at position
required

Operating the chuck

• This drill has a chuck designed for SDS Plus drill bits
• The SDS system allows the bit to move within the Chuck
(1). This means that it is unnecessary to tighten the
chuck around the bit
• Always grease the tail end of SDS bits; use pot of
grease supplied. Bits should be freshly greased and free
from dirt and dust before use
• To insert a drill bit:
- Pull back the Chuck Collar (2) and hold
- Insert SDS Plus drill bit fully into the chuck. Use a
twisting motion to line up the grooves in the
accessory
- Release the chuck collar
- The bit should now be locked into the machine.
Check by pulling the bit; if the bit can be
removed, repeat the above procedure until
