3. FRONT PANEL FACILITIES
e POWER SWTTCH
Power is supplied to the model RG-9 when this switch is
depressed. The power indicator comes on as soon as the
power is supplied.
@ PowER rNDrcAToR
This comes on as soon as the RG-9's power switch is
set to ON to indicate that power is being supplied.
€) DYNAMTC EXPANSTON METER
This meter allows you to read out the gain boost with
r espe ct to th e inpu t s ig na l i n d ec ib el s. (S e e ad d i ti o na l
descripti on on page 6).

The 4 dB, 7dB, 10 d8, 1 3 d8 , 1 6d B i nd i ca to rs l i g h t up
in accordance with the position of the dynamic expansion
selector.
@ PRocESsoR SWITcH
Depress this switch (ON) to produce an expansion effect
wit h t he signal s fed fro m the P RO CE SS O R IN P U T j a cks.
T he dynam ic e xpans io n in di c ato r w il l c o m e o r, an d
signals featuring an expansion effect only will be fed out
fr om the m odel RG-9' s O UTP UT ja ck s. In th e OF F p osi -
tion, the RG-9 circuitry i s by pa s se d. T hi s p osi ti on al l o w s
for instant comparison between the expanded and the un-
processed signals.
NOTE:
When the RG-9's power switch is set to the OFF position and
the processor switch is also set fo OFF, the signal which has
bypassed
the processor
circuitry
is nnde
available
at
the
OUTPUT jacks. There will, however, be no output if the input
level control is set to the '0' position. Make sure that this control
I's set to the'lO'
position.
@ T A P E M O N I T o R I N D I c A T o R
This comes on when the tape monitor switch is depressed.
@ TAPE MONTTOR SWTTCH
Depress this switch to monitor the sound on the tape as it
is being recorded or when playing back a tape using a tape
deck connected to the RG-9's TAPE jacks. (The tape
monit or i ndi c at or comes on.) Set t he s w it ch t o OF F w hen
not in use.

T h i s s e l e c t o r s e l e c t s m a x i m u m g a i n b o o s t v a l u e w i t h
r e s p e c t t o t h e i n p u t l e v e l , i . e . : r a t i o o f g a i n i n c r e a s e
b e t w e e n l a r g e i n p u t s i g n a l a n d s m a l l i p p u t s i g n a l . M a x -
imum gain boost increases as the selector is turned
clockwise. Set the selector to the most desirable position
w h i l e l i s t e n i n g t o t h e r e p r o d u c e d s o u n d .
* Dynamic Expansion
Dynamic expansion is defined as the sum of the downward
expansion (where small inputs are expanded down) and upward
expnsion (where large inputs are expanded up).
€ ) | N P U T L E V E L C O N T R O L
U se this control t o adjus t t he i nput l evel at w hi c h t he
expansion effect is initiated. Clockwise rotation increases
the expansion with respect to small signal levels (increases
expansion sensitivity). Adjust the control for desired
effect according to program source.
