    Connecting the AV receiver—Continued Using Dipole Speakers You can use dipole speakers for the surround left and right, surround back left and right speakers. Dipole speakers output the same sound in two directions. Dipole speakers typically have an arrow printed on them to indicate how they should be positioned.

Unscrew the terminal. The following illustration shows which speaker should be connected to each pair of terminals. If you’re using only one surround back speaker, connect it to the SURR BACK/ZONE 3 L terminal.

    Connecting the AV receiver—Continued Connecting Antenna This section explains how to connect the supplied indoor FM antenna and AM loop antenna, and how to connect commercially available outdoor FM and AM antennas. The AV receiver won’t pick up any radio signals without any antenna connected, so you must connect the antenna to use the tuner.

Optical Digital Jacks The AV receiver’s optical digital jacks have shutter-type covers that open when an optical plug is inserted and close when it’s removed.

Use a multichannel analog audio cable, or several normal audio cables, to connect the AV receiver’s MULTI CH: FRONT L/R, CENTER, SURR L/R, SURR BACK L/R, and SUBWOOFER jacks to the 7.1-channel analog audio output on your DVD player.

  • Page 149 Troubleshooting—Continued • With some CD and LD players, you won’t be able to playback DTS material properly even though your player is connected to a digital input on the AV receiver. This is usually because the DTS bitstream has been processed (e.g., output level, sampling rate, or frequency response changed) and the AV receiver doesn’t recognize it as a genuine DTS signal.
