    Printing pictures 3 Printing pictures You can print out the pictures you have taken. If you print the pictures at home, you can either connect the camera directly to the printer or you can connect the camera to a computer and download the pictures to the computer first.

    Direct printing (PictBridge) Using the direct printing function By connecting the camera to a PictBridge-compatible printer, you can print out pictures directly. Select the pictures you want to print and the number of prints on the camera’s monitor. To find out if your printer is compatible with PictBridge, refer to the printer’s instruction manual.

    Print settings (DPOF) How to make print reservations Print reservation allows you to save printing data (the number of prints and the date and time information) with the pictures stored on the card. Only the images stored on the card can be reserved to print. Insert a card with recorded pictures into the camera before making print reservations.

    Glossary of terms Aperture The adjustable lens opening which controls the amount of light that enters the camera. The larger the aperture, the shorter the depth of field and the fuzzier the background. The smaller the aperture, the greater the depth of field and the sharper the background. Larger aperture values indicate smaller apertures, and smaller aperture values indicate larger apertures.

    A method for indicating film speed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) (ex.gISO100h). Higher ISO values indicate greater sensitivity to light, so images can be exposed even in low-light conditions. JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) A compression format for still images. Photographs (pictures) taken using this camera are recorded onto the card in JPEG format.
