English Load the roll while lightly pushing out the right roll paper holder. Release the holder after fitting the paper core onto it. Be sure the paper turns freely. Roll paper should feed from the bottom, as shown below. Insert the paper edge into the slot and feed the paper 5 cm {2"} beyond the tear-off edge. -

Turn off the printer, open the roll paper cover, and clean the thermal elements of the print head with a cotton swab moistened with an alcohol solvent (ethanol or IPA). Epson recommends cleaning the thermal head periodically (generally every 3 months) to maintain receipt print quality.
