Auto Bracketing

In situations where it might be difficult to obtain a
proper exposure, auto bracketing lets you shoot
the same subject at three or five different
exposures. In WB Bracketing, the white balance is
bracketed in three shots.
Option
Off
Bracketing is off and normal exposure control is used.
Auto bracketing is performed with the selected number of
On
bracketing shots and with a compensated EV value offset from
the automatically metered exposure.
The white balance is bracketed when you press the shutter
release button fully giving three shots made up of one with the
WB Bracketing
selected white balance, a reddish image and a bluish image.
The time required to save bracketed images to the memory
card is three times that required for a normally recorded image.
Restrictions on Bracketing
Autoexposure bracketing can not be used when: BSS (p. 102), AE-Lock
(p. 110), or Noise Reduction (p. 116) is on, Multi-shot 16 or Ultra HS is
selected for Continuous (p. 100), or Movie (p. 50) is selected.
White-balance bracketing can not be used when: BSS or Noise Reduction is
on, image quality is set to HI (p. 81), or a setting other than Single is chosen for
Continuous.
— On —
Each time you press the shutter release button, either
three or five shots are taken ranging from over exposed EV
values to under exposed EV values. When photographing
a high-contrast image, the image with the desired
exposure can be selected from the set of bracketed shots.
