TAKING CARE OF UNEXPECTED PROBLEMS
ENGINE WILL NOT START
Possible Cause
Fuel valve lever OFF .
Choke OPEN.
Engine switch OFF .
Out of fuel.
Bad fuel; generator stored
without treating or draining
gasoline, or refueled with bad
gasoline.
Low oil level caused Oil Alert
to stop engine.
Spark plug faulty, fouled, or
improperly gapped.
Spark plug wet with fuel
(flooded engine).
Fuel filter restricted,
carburetor malfunction,
ignition malfunction, valves
stuck, etc.
Correction
Turn lever ON (see page 24).
Move to CLOSED unless engine
is warm (see page 24).
Turn engine switch to ON
(see page 24).
Refuel (see page 41).
Drain fuel tank and carburetor
(see page 55).
Refuel with fresh gasoline
(see page 41).
Add oil (see page 43).
Turn engine switch to OFF and
then restart the engine.
Gap or replace spark plug
(see page 49).
Dry and reinstall spark plug.
Take the generator to an
authorized Honda servicing
dealer, or refer to the shop
manual.
