INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Venting the Dryer

To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons when using this appliance, follow basic precautions,
including the following:
• Do not crush or collapse duct or . Failure to follow

• To reduce the ris of fire, combustion, or
accumulation of combustible gases, DO NOT
exhaust dryer air into an enclosed and unventilated
area, such as an attic, all, ceiling, cra l space,
chimney, gas vent, or concealed space of a building.

• To reduce the ris of fire, DO NOT exhaust the dryer
ith plastic or thin foil ducting. Failure to follow

• The exhaust duct must be 4 inches (10.2 cm) in
diameter ith no obstructions. The exhaust duct
should be ept as short as possible. Ma e sure
to clean any old ducts before installing your ne

• Rigid or semirigid metal ducting is recommended
for use bet een the dryer and the all. In special
installations hen it is impossible to ma e a
connection ith the above recommendations, a UL-
listed flexible metal transition duct may be used
bet een the dryer and all connection only. The
use of this ducting ill affect drying time. Failure to
follow these instructions can result in fire or death.
• DO NOT use sheet metal scre s or other fasteners
hich extend into the duct that could catch lint
and reduce the effi ciency of the exhaust system.
Secure all joints ith duct tape. Failure to follow

should obtain the necessary duct or locally. The
end cap should have hinged dampers to prevent
bac draft hen the dryer is not in use. Failure to

• The total length of flexible metal duct shall not
exceed 8 ft. (2.4 m).
• In Canada, only those foil-type flexible ducts,
if any, specifically identified for use ith the
appliance by the manufacturer shall be used. In the
United States, only those foil-type flexible ducts, if any,
specifically identified for use with the appliance by the
manufacturer and that comply with the Outline for
Clothes Dryer Transition Duct, Subject 2158A, shall be
used.
