N N o o t t e e : : Shifting the transfer case to
Neutral (N) can cause the vehicle to roll
even if the transmission is in Park (P).
Be sure to set the parking brake before
placing the transfer case in Neutral.
When shifting into or out of Four-
Wheel-Low Lock, the vehicle must
be stopped or moving less than
3 mph (5 km/h) with the transmission
in Neutral.
N N o o t t e e : : Operating your vehicle in Four-
Wheel-Low Lock above 30 mph (48
km/h) for any extended period of time
could cause damage to the transfer
case. Do not operate your vehicle in
Four-Wheel-Low Lock above 30 mph
(48 km/h) for extended periods.

The locking front and rear axle
features can be used to give the
vehicle additional traction when
traveling in off-road situations such as
mud, snow, sand, steep hills and
uneven terrain. To lock front and rear
axles, place the transfer case in 4LO
Lock mode. Before the front axle can
be locked, the rear axle must be locked.
Locking axles will be disengaged when
the wheel speed is greater than 40
mph (64 km/h), if the vehicle's battery
is low and/or the transfer case is
shifted out of 4LO Lock mode.
5/14/08
The locking rear axle and/or locking
front axle will be engaged when the
wheel speed is less than 16 mph
(26 km/h), if transfer case is in 4LO
Lock mode.

Off-road driving can be great fun, but
it does have its hazards. The greatest
hazard can be the terrain itself. Off-
road driving involves some new skills,
so it's very important to read this
guide as well as your Owner Manual.

There are some important things to
remember about loading your vehicle:
• The heaviest items should be on
the load floor and forward of the
rear axle. Put heavier items as
forward as possible, but do not
place them in the front seat area.
• Be sure the load is secured properly
to prevent items from moving
during off-road driving.
N N o o t t e e : :
• Cargo on the load floor piled higher
than the seat can be thrown forward
during sudden stops.
• Unsecured cargo on the load floor
can be tossed about when driving
over rough terrain.
• Heavy loads on the roof raise the
vehicle's center of gravity, making it
more likely to roll over.
