Installation Guide

2.0 Installation

2.1 Before you start

The application A260 is very flexible. These are the basic principles:
Heating (circuit 1 and circuit 2):
Typically, the flow temperature is adjusted according to your
requirements. The flow temperature sensor S3 (circuit 1) and
S4 (circuit 2) are the most important sensors. The desired flow
temperatures at S3 and S4 are calculated individually in the ECL
controller, based on the outdoor temperature (S1). The lower the
outdoor temperature, the higher the desired flow temperature.
By means of two week schedules, the heating circuits can
individually be in 'Comfort' or 'Saving' mode (two temperature
levels).
The motorized control valves M1 (circuit 1) and M2 (circuit 2) are
opened gradually when the flow temperature is lower than the
desired flow temperature and vice versa.
The return temperatures S5 (circuit 1) and S6 (circuit 2) to the
district heating supply should not be too high. If so, the desired
flow temperature can be adjusted (typically to a lower value), thus
resulting in a gradual closing of the motorized control valves.
In boiler-based heating supply the return temperature should not
be too low (same adjustment procedure as above).
Furthermore, the return temperature limitation can be dependent
of the outdoor temperature. Typically, the lower the outdoor
temperature, the higher the accepted return temperature.
If the measured room temperatures do not equal the desired room
temperatures, the desired flow temperatures can be adjusted.
The circulation pumps, P1 (circuit 1) and P2 (circuit 2), are ON at
heat demand or at frost protection.
The heating for the two circuits can be switched OFF individually
when the outdoor temperature is higher than a selectable value.
When circuit 2 is a sub-circuit to circuit 1: The desired flow
temperature in circuit 2 can be forwarded to circuit 1. The flow
temperature in circuit 1 will in this way fulfil the demand from
circuit 2.

ECL Comfort 210, application A260
Typical A260 application:
The shown diagram is a fundamental and simplified example and does
not contain all components that are necessary in a system.
All named components are connected to the ECL Comfort controller.
List of components:
S1
Outdoor temperature sensor
S2
Room temperature sensor / ECA 30, circuit 1
S3
Flow temperature sensor, circuit 1
S4
Flow temperature sensor, circuit 2
S5
Return temperature sensor, circuit 1
S6
Return temperature sensor, circuit 2
S8
Room temperature sensor / ECA 30, circuit 2
P1
Circulation pump, circuit 1
P2
Circulation pump, circuit 2
M1
Motorized control valve, circuit 1
M2
Motorized control valve, circuit 2
R4
Relay output, alarm
The A260 application can utilize a connected flow / heat meter to limit
the flow / power.
The controller is pre-programmed with factory settings that are shown
in the relevant chapters of this guide.
