Installation

6.1 General Information

The following connections need to be established on the heat
pump:
Flow and return flow of the heating system
Condensate outflow
Control line to remote control
Power supply

6.2 Heating System Connection

The heating system connections on the heat pump have a 1" ex-
ternal thread (flat sealing). Use a spanner to firmly grip the tran-
sitions when connecting the heat pump. After the heat pump has
been installed, the ductwork must be sealed so that the connec-
tion is gastight.
Before connecting the heating water system to the heat pump,
the heating system must be flushed to remove any impurities,
residue from sealants, etc. Any accumulation of deposits in the
liquifier could cause the heat pump to completely break down.
Systems in which the heating water flow can be shut off via the
radiator or thermostat valves must be fitted with an overflow
valve downstream from the heat pump in a heating bypass (to be
installed by the customer). This ensures a minimum heating
water flow rate through the heat pump and helps to avoid faults.
Once the heating system has been installed, it must be filled, de-
aerated and pressure-tested.
Minimum heating water flow rate
The minimum heating water flow rate through the heat pump
must be assured in all operating states of the heating system.
This can be accomplished, for example, by installing either a
manifold without differential pressure or an overflow valve. The
procedure for adjusting an overflow valve is described in the
Chapter Start-up.
Antifreeze
A method of manual drainage (see illustration) should be pro-
vided for heat pumps which are exposed to frost. The properly in-
stalled device is equipped with an internal frost protection. If the
heat pump is taken out of service or in the event of a power fail-
ure, the system has to be drained. The heating circuit should be
operated with a suitable antifreeze if heat pump systems are im-
plemented in buildings where a power failure can not be detected
(holiday home).

6.3 Electrical Connection

A standard five-core cable is used for connecting the heat pump
to the power supply.
The cable must be provided by the customer. The conductor
cross section is selected in accordance with the power consump-
tion of the heat pump (see Appendix Device Information) and the
applicable VDE (EN) and VNB regulations.
An all-pole disconnecting device with a contact gap of at least 3
mm (e.g. utility blocking contactor or power contactor) as well as
a 3-pole circuit breaker with common tripping for all external con-
ductors must be installed in the power supply (tripping current in
compliance with the Device Information).
To ensure frost protection, a three-core control line connected to
the heat pump is also required (1.5mm² not included in the scope
of supply).
Optionally, the following may also be required (all cables suited
2
for 230 V with min. 0.5 mm
conductor cross section):
3-core cables for DHW preparation with heat pump
2-core cable for a utility block contact
2-core cable for an external remote control request
Ensure that the incoming supply has a clockwise rotating field
when connecting multiphase devices.
Phase sequence: L1, L2, L3.
ATTENTION!
Ensure that there is a clockwise rotating field: Incorrect phase sequence
causes wrong rotational direction of the ventilator, thus significantly
reducing performance.
The device supplies the control voltage to the remote control.
The connecting cable from the remote control to the heat pump
(not included in the scope of supply) must be suitable for a 230 V
supply voltage. The cable must be 5-core (at least) and have a
single-core cross section of at least 0.5 mm
The heat pump power supply is in accordance with the technical
data of the device: 3-L N PE 400 V.
The heat pump is connected via the terminal strips in the switch
box. For detailed information, see Circuit Diagrams in the Appen-
dix.
