ENGINE OIL PRESSURE
TESTING OIL PRESSURE
To test engine oil pressure, remove the hex plug (118npt
threads) in the tee fitting located on the oil filter adapter.
Install an accurate mechanical oil pressure test gauge in its
place. Start the engine and allow it to operate at normal
run~
ning RPM(1800/1500). Observe and record the pressure.
OIL PRESSURE AT 1800/1500:
35-45 PSI OR MORE
OIL PRESSURE
SENSOR
. OIL PRESSURE
·TEST GAUGE
REMOTE OIL FILTER (OPTIONAL)
APPLY A THIN COAT OF CLEAN OIL TO THE O·RING WHEN
INSTALLING THIS KIT. THREAD THE KIT ON, THEN HAND
TIGHTEN AN ADDITIONAL 3/4 TUIIN AFTER THE D-RING
CONTACTS THE BASE.

THE IN CONNECTION HOSE
MUST ATTACH TO THE OUT
CONNECTION AT THE
NOTE THE "IN" AND "OUT" MARKINGS
ON THE ADAPTER WHEN THE HOSES ARE
REMOVED FOR INSTALLATION SO THEY
WILL BE RECONNECTED CORRECTLY
OIL FILTER.

REMOTE OIL FILTER.
INSTALLATION
This popular accessory is used
to
relocate the engine's oil
filter from the engine to a more convenient location such as
an el!gine room bulkhead.
NOTE: Refer to
ENGiNE
OIL
CHANGE
in this manual for
instructions on removing the oil filter.
To install, simply remove the engine oil filter and
thread
on
WESTERBEKE's remote oil filter kit as shown. Always
install this kit with the oil filter facing down as illustrated.

NOTE: Westerbeke is not responsible for engine failure due to
incorrect installation of the Remote Oil Filter.

GASKET WHEN INSTALLING. AFTER THE FILTER
CONTACTS THE BASE, TIGHTEN IT AN ADDITIONAL
3/4TURN.

CAUTION:
It is vital
to
install the oil lines cor-
rectly. If the oil flows in the reverse direction, the by·
·pass valve In the filter assembly will prevent the oil
from reaching the engine causing an internal engine
failure. If there is no oil pressure reading, shutdown
immediately and check the hose connections.
