ADJUSTING THE FOCUS
THE SUBJECT THAT IS DIFFICULT TO FOCUS IN THE AUTOFOCUS
MODE
The autofocus mode uses the image contrast (the difference of light and dark
parts) on the CCD (Charge Coupled Device) to focus on. Therefore, with the aut-
ofocus mode, the focus may not be adjusted correctly on the following subjects.
In this case, use the focus lock function (see page 38), that you once focus on
the other subject which is at the same distance as the subject you want to take
the picture and change the image composition, or use the manual focus mode
(adjust the focus manually, see page 39).
The subject is too dark.
The subject has no contrast such as a
blue sky or a white wall.
Some subjects at different distances
overlap in the focus range.
The subject is too bright such as a
shining car body or a surface of
water.
