Changing display settings

You can change the settings for both the computer display and the external display. For example, you
can define which one is the main display and which one is the secondary display. You also can change
the resolution and orientation.
To change display settings, do the following:
1. Right-click on the desktop and select Screen Resolution or Display settings.
2. Select the display that you want to configure.
3. Change display settings as you want.
Note: If you set a higher resolution for the computer display than the external display, only part of the screen
can be shown on the external display.

Using the NVIDIA Optimus Graphics feature

Some ThinkPad notebook computers support NVIDIA Optimus Graphics.
To achieve the best balance between the computer performance and a long battery life, depending on the
graphics quality demand of the running program and power plan settings that you use, the NVIDIA Optimus
Graphics feature automatically switches between High Performance Graphics and Energy Saving Graphics,
with no need to restart your computer, close programs, or intervene manually.

Using the color sensor

Depending on the model, your computer might be equipped with a color sensor. The color sensor enables
you to measure and adjust the color accuracy of your displays.
To use the color sensor, do the following:
• For Windows 7: Click Start ➙ All Programs ➙ X-Rite ➙ PANTONE Color Calibrator.
• For Windows 8 and Windows 8.1: Move the cursor to the top-right or bottom-right corner of the screen
to display the charms. Click the Search charm and search X-Rite.
• For Windows 10: Click Start ➙ All apps ➙ X-Rite ➙ PANTONE Color Calibrator.
When the color sensor is in use, the color-sensor indicator blinks twice at regular intervals. When the color
sensor measurement finishes, the color-sensor indicator stays on. To locate the color-sensor indicator, see
"Status indicators" on page 8.
If your computer comes with a color sensor, the display provides a color profile that can work with the
Microsoft Image Color Management (ICM) function. If the graphics software you are using is compatible
with ICM, you can display a color image on your monitor and match it with the same quality one on another
device, such as a scanner or a printer.
For details on Microsoft ICM, refer to the Windows help information system.
Important: After you use the color sensor for the first time, a calibration profile ECCM2SensorData.dat is
generated. To locate the DAT file, do the following:
• For Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1: Go to C:\ProgramData\X-Rite\ECCM-2.
• For Windows 10: Click This PC ➙ Documents ➙ X-Rite.
