This system enables a reduced fuel consumption
and lower greenhouse gas emissions. Warning
light
is displayed on the instrument panel.
This notifies you that the engine is on standby.
The system is activated automatically when the ve-
hicle is started. While driving, the system stops the
engine (standby) when the vehicle is at a standstill
(traffic jam, traffic lights, etc).
System operating
conditions
The engine switches to standby if:
– the vehicle has been driven since its last stop;
– the gearbox is in position D or neutral;
– the clutch pedal is released (in manual gear-
boxes);
– the accelerator pedal is released (in automatic
gearboxes);
and
– the vehicle's speed is zero (in automatic gear-
boxes) or less than 2 mph (3 km/h) (in manual
gearboxes).
F U N C T I O N
The engine is restarted when you depress the
clutch pedal and engage a gear.
SPECIAL CASES
– Depending on the vehicle, while the engine is on
standby, if the driver gets out of their seat or
unfastens their seat belt and opens the driver's
door, the ignition will be switched off. Restart the
vehicle (see "Starting, stopping the engine" in
this document). The function is reactivated;
– if the engine stalls while the system is operating,
depress the clutch pedal fully to restart.
ENGINE NON-STANDBY
The warning light
appears on the instru-
ment panel to indicate that engine standby is not
available.
NOTE:
Please refer to the information on the "Stop and
Start function" in Section 2 of your vehicle hand-
book to view the conditions preventing engine
