3.16 Room monitor feature
This feature allows you to listen in on a room
where a handset or base unit is located. The
monitored extension will not ring, allowing you to
easily monitor, for example, a baby's room from
different areas of the house. If you want to
prevent your unit from being monitored by other
extensions, leave this feature OFF (default
setting). An extension currently in use cannot be
monitored.
L Keep the front cover page open for button
locations.
3.16.1 Turning ON the room
monitor feature (Handset)
This allows the handset to be monitored.
Make sure the handset is not being used.

Press {MENU}.

Scroll to "Initial setting" by pressing
{v} or {e}, then press the soft key
({SELECT}).

Scroll to "Room monitor" by pressing {v}
or {e}, then press the soft key ({SELECT}).

Press {v} or {e} to select "On".

Press the soft key ({SAVE}).

Press {OFF}.
3.16.2 Turning ON the room
monitor feature (Base unit)
This allows the base unit to be monitored.

Press {MENU}.

Press {#}, then {7}{4}.

Press {A} or {B} repeatedly to select "ON".

Press {SET}.

Note:
L You can turn ON the base unit room monitor
feature using the handset (page 87).
3.16.3 Monitoring a room
Important information:
The unit to be monitored must not be in use.
With the handset

Press {HOLD/INTERCOM}.

Press the soft key ({MONITOR}).

To call the base unit, press {0}.
To call another handset, enter its extension
number ({1} to {4}).
L Your handset will start to monitor the
room through the destination unit.
L To monitor from the speaker, press {SP-
PHONE}. To switch back to the receiver,
press {TALK}.
L The monitored unit will display "Room
monitor".

To end monitoring, press {OFF}.
L The base unit user can stop being
monitored by pressing
{LOCATOR/INTERCOM} or {SP-
PHONE}. The monitored handset user
can stop being monitored by pressing
{OFF}.
With the base unit

Press {LOCATOR/INTERCOM}, then press
{MUTE}.

To call the handset, enter its extension
number ({1} to {4}).
L The base unit will start to monitor the
room through the handset.
L The monitored unit will display "Room
monitor" then the duration time.

To end monitoring, press
{LOCATOR/INTERCOM} or {SP-PHONE}.
L The monitored handset user can stop
being monitored by pressing {OFF}.
Note:
L If the room monitor feature of the destination
unit is OFF, "DENIED" will be displayed and
busy tone will sound.
3.17 Call Waiting Deluxe
service (Handset only)
This unit is compatible with the Call Waiting
Deluxe service offered by your local telephone
company.
After subscribing, Call Waiting Deluxe service
not only allows your handset to display the
second caller's information, but also offers you a
variety of ways to deal with the second call.
Turn ON the Call Waiting Deluxe service
beforehand (feature #57 on page 79, or page
84).
L Keep the front cover page open for button
locations.
