call quality and may lead
to loss of the connection.

Connectivity
Your phone supports different meth-
ods for transmitting data in the mo-
bile network:
• The fastest method is UMTS (Uni-
versal Mobile Telecommunications
System). If you use UMTS, you can
make video calls in high quality.
You can be connected to the Inter-
net permanently. Only the current
transmission time is charged by
the network operator. Some serv-
ice providers do not yet support
this service.
• GPRS (General Packet Radio Serv-
ice) is another method for trans-
mitting data in the mobile
network. With GPRS you can be
connected to the Internet perma-
nently, as well, if the network has
sufficient capacity. Only the cur-
rent transmission time is charged
by the network operator.
• GSM (Global System for Mobile
Communications) is a fully digital
standard for mobile networks
mainly used for voice calls and
text messages (SMS).
Depending on the surrounding net-
work and your provider, the different
methods are used automatically. De-
pending on your provider you may
set which method to use (page 52).

(DRM)
Remember that your telephone has
digital rights management. The use of
downloaded pictures, sounds or appli-
cations can be restricted by the suppli-
ers, e.g. copy protection, use for a lim-
ited period of time only, number of
times they can be used etc.
