Flash Photography
Follow the instructions in this section to take pictures using the
fl ash. Note that the underwater fl ash unit will only fi re when the
camera's built-in fl ash fi res; adjust camera settings to disable the
camera AF-assist illuminator and ensure the fl ash will fi re with ev-
ery shot. See the camera manual for details.

TTL Flash Control

TTL Flash Control
In TTL mode, fl ash output is adjusted automatically in response
to shooting conditions. The procedure for using TTL fl ash con-
trol varies with the model of camera.

Using TTL Flash Control with the AW1, J4, and S2

Follow the steps below.

Adjust camera settings.
Adjust camera settings as follows.
• Shooting mode: Choose P, S, A, or M,
or choose
Underwater (AW1 only).
• Flash control: Select TTL for Flash control
in the shooting menu.
• Underwater fl ash: Select Enable for
Underwater fl ash in the shooting
menu (users of the AW1 should note
that this option is only available from
camera fi rmware version 1.10).
• Flash mode: Choose a setting that disables red-eye reduc-
tion and ensures that the fl ash will fi re with every shot.
