Steering Wheel Removal and Installation
Removing the Steering Wheel
Remove the cover from the steering wheel hub. Re-
move the locknut that secures the steering wheel to the
shaft (Fig. 15). Pull the steering wheel off the shaft.
NOTE: It may be necessary to use a jaw-type puller to
remove the steering wheel from the steering shaft.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT hit the steering shaft with a
hammer. This could damage the steering valve com
ponents.
Installing the Steering Wheel
1. Use the steering wheel to put the rear wheels in the
straight ahead position.
2. Slide the steering wheel onto the steering shaft.
3. Secure the steering wheel in place with the jam nut
(Fig. 10). Tighten the nut to 20 to 26 ft-lb.
4. Install cap to steering wheel with screw.
