Information on battery safety
and the charging process
Read these safety instructions and warning notices
before using or charging the lithium polymer
storage batteries.
Operational environment
Follow all local regulations and always switch off the
TPA 300 if its use is forbidden or if it could cause
malfunctions or hazards.
Only use the TPA 300 in its normal operating
settings.
TPA 300 and its extensions may contain small parts.
Keep them out of the reach of small children.
About charging
Only use the battery charger supplied with the
TPA 300. Using a different battery charger can lead
to malfunctions and/or hazards.
Once the red LED goes out, the charging process is
complete.
About the battery charger
Do not use the battery charger in an environment
with high humidity. Never touch the battery charger
with wet hands or feet. When using the battery
charger, make sure that there is adequate ventilation
around the TPA 300. Do not cover the battery
charger with paper or other object that may impair
cooling. Do not use the battery charger while it is
inside a carrying case. Connect the battery charger
to a suitable power source. The voltage requirements
can be found on the product housing and/or the
packaging. Do not use the battery charger if the
wires are damaged. Do not try to maintain the

About the battery
CAUTION: The TPA 300 contains an internal lithium
polymer storage battery. The battery may burst or
explode and release dangerous chemicals. To reduce
the risk of a fire or burns, do not disassemble, crush or
puncture the battery, or throw the TPA 300 into fire or
water, short-circuit the contacts, or short-circuit with a
metal object.
Use the specified battery charger supplied by
BOSCH for this TPA 300.
Safe use of lithium polymer batteries
The TPA 300 MUST be placed on a fireproof surface
(ceramic plate or metal box) during charging.
ONLY charge the lithium polymer storage battery
with the supplied battery charger.
NEVER use a Ni-MH type battery charger (nickel-
metal hydride) to charge a lithium polymer storage
battery.
If the battery starts to heat up to more than 60 °C
(140 °F), STOP the charging process IMMEDIATELY.
The battery temperature should NEVER exceed
60 °C (140 °F) during charging.
NEVER charge the storage battery directly after
using it and while it is still hot. Let it cool down to
ambient temperature.
If the storage battery emits smoke or liquid during
the charging process, stop charging immediately.
Disconnect the battery charger and place the
TPA 300 in an isolated area for at least 15 minutes.
DO NOT CONTINUE TO USE THE BATTERY and
instead return the TPA 300 to the dealer.
Have a fire extinguisher for electrical fires ready
while charging the storage battery. In the unlikely
event that the lithium polymer storage battery
ignites, DO NOT use water to extinguish the fire,
instead use sand or the fire extinguisher described
above.
